
Tom Osborn is the Co-Founder and CEO of Shamiri Institute, a purpose-driven startup dedicated to helping young people across Sub-Saharan Africa realize their potential through affordable, personalized, community-driven mental health services. Shamiri blends rigorous social science research with deep local knowledge to empower youth to thrive.
The son of sugarcane farmers, Tom grew up in rural Kenya, and his education was made possible through over $300,000 in scholarships. He graduated from Harvard College with High Honors in Psychology. Tom has been recognized as the youngest Echoing Green Fellow at 18, a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, a TED Fellow, and an Acumen Fellow.
An advocate for youth inclusion in entrepreneurship and innovation, and Co-Author of the book What We Can't Burn (2024), Tom mentors emerging African leaders and speaks globally on locally led solutions to lift communities out of poverty.
